Once upon a time in 1992 there was a film starring Kirsty Swanson and Luke Perry which didn't do all that well. But a few years later in 1997 Joss Whedon came along and took that bad film and turned it into a hugely successful and now cult classic show. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Sarah Michelle Gellar starred as Buffy herself, while a then unknown David Boreanaz starred as Angel the vampire with a soul.
It survived for seven series before it finally left our screens, but moved onto have it's own comic book series.
I loved the show, though admittedly I didn't start watching it until it was already halfway through series 2, but either way I was hooked.
Funny to think that Buffy would be 34 years old now, if the show were still going.

Saw something about that not that long ago too. Glad it's not a reboot. Doubt I'll bother with it, don't see how they can do much original things with it after how it finished. I know the comics were actually considered canon to the universe, but from a brief skim over it was kinda weird and messed up. In the meantime I'm actually in the middle of a Buffy marathon
